Behind the Seams: Our Collaboration with Clara & Rambert School for Summer 2025

This summer, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on a powerful collaboration that brings together movement, fabric, and future talent, a creative partnership between Funkifabrics, emerging designer Clara, and the exceptional young artists of the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance.
A School Rooted in Excellence
For over 100 years, the Rambert School has been at the forefront of training world-class dancers and choreographers. Known for its boundary-pushing approach and elite standards, the school blends classical technique with bold contemporary expression. When the opportunity arose to work with Clara a rising creative voice studying design and the Rambert team, we knew it would be a project full of innovation.
Fabric as Function and Form
The collaboration focused on a capsule of contemporary dancewear and costume concepts for the school’s highly anticipated Summer Shows 2025. Clara explored the relationship between fabric and the body in motion, drawing inspiration from the dancers themselves. From sketchbooks to prototype garments, her designs capture both the structure of the human form and the dynamic flow of performance. We provided a black stretch mesh giving Clara the tools to test silhouettes, layer textures, and challenge conventional costume norms. The result? A set of pieces that are as visually striking as they are technically responsive, allowing dancers complete freedom to move.
What Made This Special
- Clara’s designs included corset-inspired panelling, layered sheer fabrics, and graphic structuring, all built for movement.
- Our fabrics became the canvas for experimentation, from stretch to semi-transparent drama.
- The final looks are being showcased in Rambert’s Summer Show performances, celebrating the next generation of talent in both dance and design.

This project is a perfect example of how creative collaboration fuels future talent and how textiles can support artistic expression in motion.
